This Unaccompanied Minor Policy explains how requests for unaccompanied minor (“UM” or “UMNR”) travel are handled for flights booked through www.myflightsportal.com. It applies to all bookings made with My Flights Portal, Inc. (“My Flights Portal,” “we,” “us,” “our”).

My Flights Portal is an independent Online Travel Agency (OTA) and acts as an intermediary between the traveler and the airline/supplier. Unaccompanied minor eligibility, fees, required documents, and acceptance rules are determined solely by the operating airline and applicable laws.

1) What Is an Unaccompanied Minor?

An unaccompanied minor is generally a child traveling without a parent or legal guardian (or without an adult traveler meeting the airline’s age requirements). Airlines use different age thresholds and rules, and they may classify a child as:

  • Required UM service (mandatory)
  • Optional UM service (available upon request)
  • Not permitted (some airlines restrict minors on certain routes or itineraries)

Important: UM rules vary by airline, route, and itinerary type. Always confirm directly with the operating airline before travel.

2) Airline Rules Control UM Travel (Strict)

Unaccompanied minor policies can vary widely, including:

  • Minimum/maximum age for UM service
  • Whether UM is allowed on domestic vs. international itineraries
  • Restrictions on connections, layovers, and last flight of the day
  • Limits on red-eye flights or long layovers
  • Requirements for drop-off/pick-up persons and identification
  • UM service fees charged by the airline
  • Documentation requirements (forms, ID, consent letters, etc.)

My Flights Portal cannot override or guarantee UM acceptance. Final approval is always made by the airline at the time of booking and/or check-in.

3) Booking Requirements & Limitations

Because UM requests require airline-specific handling, the following may apply:

  • UM service may not be available online for certain airlines or itineraries
  • Some airlines require UM bookings to be made directly with the airline
  • Some fares may not support UM service

UM travel may be restricted on:

  • Multi-airline itineraries
  • Codeshare flights
  • Itineraries with connections
  • International journeys requiring documentation/immigration compliance

If an airline does not support UM service for your selected itinerary, you may need to choose an alternate routing or book with the airline directly.

4) Documents & Check-In Requirements

Airlines typically require additional steps for UM travel, which may include:

  • Completing airline UM forms
  • Providing contact details of the adult dropping off and picking up the minor
  • Government-issued photo ID for the adults involved
  • Travel consent letters (especially for international travel)
  • Passport/visa requirements (if international)
  • Early airport arrival for UM processing

You are responsible for ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.

5) Fees & Charges

UM service typically includes an airline service fee that is charged:

  • Per direction and/or per segment
  • Based on airline policy and route
  • Payable at booking or at the airport (depending on airline)

In addition, if My Flights Portal applies any service fee for assistance with UM handling (if applicable), it will be disclosed at the time of request.

Any service fee charged by My Flights Portal (pre-booking, at checkout, or post-booking) is strictly non-refundable, except where required by law or explicitly stated otherwise in writing at the time the fee is charged.

6) Changes, Cancellations & Schedule Disruptions

UM travel is more sensitive to schedule changes and disruptions. If the airline changes the schedule, cancels a flight, or rebooks the itinerary:

  • UM eligibility may need to be re-approved by the airline
  • A new routing may not qualify for UM service
  • Additional fees or documentation may apply
  • Re-accommodation options are controlled by the airline

If you book a connecting itinerary, airline rules may require specific minimum connection times or may not allow connections at all.

7) No Show, Denied Boarding, or Missing Documents

If a minor or accompanying adult fails to comply with airline requirements, the airline may:

  • Refuse UM acceptance at check-in
  • Deny boarding
  • Treat the booking as a no-show (fare rules apply)

My Flights Portal is not responsible for losses caused by missing documentation, late arrival, or failure to meet airline UM requirements.

8) Parent/Guardian Responsibilities (Recommended)

Before travel, we strongly recommend:

  • Confirm UM eligibility directly with the operating airline
  • Avoid tight connections and last flight of the day
  • Arrive early at the airport per airline UM instructions
  • Carry printed copies of forms and contact details
  • Ensure the pick-up person arrives early with valid photo ID
  • Monitor the itinerary for schedule changes
